The Green Drink EVERYONE is Talking About!

Sep 25, 2013

... and for good reason!  They are full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and they are alkaline.  But one thing they are not is balanced.

They are all carbs, no protein, and no healthy fat.

And, often, people drink their green juice and think that they don't contribute to their overall calories.  As a result, they eat too many carbs.

Eat too many carbs, and you're eventually going get fat.

Try the MoyerMeals spin on a green juice.  We add organic, unflavored brown rice protein for ... you guessed it, protein.  We also add chia seeds for healthy fat, so now instead of having a juice that is all carbs, you have a smoothie that is nicely balanced and more like a meal.  You can add a little avocado if you want a thicker smoothie, but be careful that you don't add too much as it boosts the fat content.

12 oz coconut water

8 oz apple juice

1 cup frozen fruit OR half of a medium sized pear

3 cups spinach (pack it in there!)

2T brown rice protein, unflavored

1T chia

juice from 3 lemons

Blend together (a Vitamix works best), divide into two smoothies, and you have a delicious, balanced concoction of 240 Calories, 2.5g fat, 41g carbs, 15g protein.

*Add cucumber, parsley, basil, ginger, or any other greens or herbs, and don't worry about the added calories, because these things barely have any!

**Remember, just half an avocado will add 57 calories and 5g of fat.
