Here's an easy way for you to stay active

We have a song we play in the kitchen when it’s packing time. “Zombie” by Fela Kuti. We pump that up to full volume and dance and pack. I highly recommend this song if you like funk, horns, and grooves.

But yesterday I found a new song that lends itself to packing. “Fame” by David Bowie. Again, it has to be full volume.

In “Fame,” Bowie sings:
Fame, it's not your brain, it's just the flame
That burns your change to keep you insane

I’m not sure what that means, but you know what keeps me insane? Fitness. Fitness keeps me insane. Exercise. Training. They all drive me insane.

I don’t even know where I’m going with this blog now, but you know what, David Bowie has some great hair. And he’s always been in good shape. Being a rockstar is an active lifestyle.


Here’s an easy way for you to stay active:
A - Pick one of the following: swimming, running, biking, rowing, hiking
B - Pick one of the following: distance, speed, time
C - Pick one of the following: 2 days a week, 3 days a week

Whatever you chose for A, you are going to do that for four weeks. Each week, you are going to increase whatever you chose in B by 5-10% each workout. For example, if you are swimming and you start with 30 minutes and you are doing 2 times a week, that’s 8 workouts in those 4 weeks. If you increase by time each workout, then increasing by 10% each time will have you doing around 60 minutes in your last workout.

Remember this: if everything else stays the same, increasing your workload steadily over a four week period of time gets RESULTS.
