Why Low-Carb Diets SUCK!

I can't tell you how often I think about nutrition, diets, and the marketing that is involved.  Wait, actually I can: I think about it ALL THE TIME.

 

One of my favorites: "low-carb" (and "low-fat" and "low-calorie").


First, what exactly is "low-carb?"  Low is a relative term.  What's low for one person might be high for another.


Most importantly, what’s the appeal of low carb, low fat, low calorie?  It kills me that people fall for these words and look for these words when they’re buying things in regard to their health or their nutrition or their fitness. 

Instead of low calorie, low fat, and low calorie, why not strive for correct carb, correct calorie, correct fat?


Why do you want to be low in things that your body needs to survive?  Yes, people will argue that if you want to lose weight you have to take your calories lower.  This is true.  But if your goal is to lose weight and you take your calories down to achieve that goal, then you're not eating low-carb.  You're eating CORRECT CARB.  

 

Think first: what is your goal?  And then strive for what is correct to reach that goal?
